Umbrella Academy is coming back for a third season. Netflix announced that it was bringing back the popular superhero series, and The Hollywood Reporter says that production is set to resume next February in Toronto.
The show’s cast—Ritu Arya, David Castañeda, Colm Feore, Aidan Gallagher, Tom Hopper, Justin H. Min, Ellen Page, Emmy Raver-Lampman, and Robert Sheehan are set to reprise their roles.

The series debuted in 2019 on Netflix, and is based off of the graphic novel by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. It follows an eclectic group of individuals, all of whom had been born in 1989 to mothers who hadn’t been pregnant until that moment. They were adopted by an eccentric billionaire who raised them as superheroes. When season 1 begins, the family has been scattered around the world (and off of it), and reunite to avert a global apocalypse.
In the second season, they were able to stop the apocalypse, only to end up in various years in the 1960s, and have to stop another world-ending event. As THR notes, Way and Bá have plans for eight graphic novels in all, and have plenty of places for the series to go in the future. The next installment is Hotel Oblivion (released in 2018), and earlier this year, Way announced that the fourth installment would be called Sparrow Academy, although there isn’t a release date for that one yet.
Netflix didn’t announce when the third season would premiere.
